Beachcombing for Barbour with Claire Gill.
2nd Jun 2017
The ‘Beachcomber Collection’ was born from Barbour’s exploration of the dramatic north east coastline, and celebrates the beauty that can be found there. Our first job was to find talented, like-minded people whose work is inspired by the shoreline, for an exciting new SS17 collaboration.
After discovering Claire Gill, we were incredibly excited to approach her to work with us. Her distinctively unique style stood out against other coastal-inspired art, so we knew she would be the perfect fit for the Beachcomber Collection.
An inspirational journey.
The project involved us spending a day with Claire to film a day-in-the-life of her journey around Whitstable, as well as shooting a series of images that captured the tools, techniques and methods used in her art. She invited us into her workspace to sit down for a chat while she was busy at work to find out more about the planning, execution and inspiration behind her beautiful artwork, from beginning to end.
Following Claire around for just one day was extremely insightful for the team, and we all picked up a few tips and tricks from her when it came to crafting unique art. Claire’s passion for the coastline enables her to unlock a sense of adventure, allowing her to find some of the most interesting and unique pieces of nautical material to photograph and build into fascinating photo montages.
How it beautifully came together.
Watch the film we produced to inspire your next coastal adventure – you’ll soon be stopping to take pictures of old rusting metal and weathered wood along the way!
